Sea Scout Competitions

Throughout the year, Islander participates in 3 different competitions that tests the crew on there skills and knowledge of boating, safety and past / present nautical tasks.

The first competition of the year is Long Beach Invitational Sea Scout Regatta. It is held on the second Saturday in March. This competition is not your normal Sea Scout competition. It is a one day competition where they put a twist on some of the events from other competitions and test you on other Sea Scout requirements.

This second competition is Ancient Mariner Regatta. This competition is held on Memorial Day weekend from Friday to Monday. It is currently held at California Maritime Academy, Vallejo, CA.

The third competition is Southwestern Rendezvous. This competition is held on Thanksgiving weekend, Friday through Sunday. It is held at Cabrillo Beach Youth Waterfront Sports Center in San Pedro, California. An article came out in 1995 in the Exploring Magazine about Rendezvous where Islander Cliff Stewart (the boatswain at the time) was mentioned.
